Dedoceo Habi presented his film,fearful TRUTH to a convention of over 250 United Methodist Church leaders at the 41st Annual Meeting of the Black Methodist For Church Renewal event in Los Angeles.

The film was well received and sparked powerful conversations around the role of the Church in the fight to end HIV/AIDS.

Congresswoman Maxine Waters was the keynote speaker and stressed that Churches must recognize the power they have in the community and must be part of the solution in reclaiming our communities.

MindWorks Net has graciously accepted a grant offered by the Elmhurst Weed and Seed Initiative to select up to three students from a local High School to produce their story on film. The final product will be presented at the school and other neighborhood centers to inform the community on the issues and problems with crime prevention in the community, and what can be done to make things better. Student participants will be exposed to the film making process and will accompany staff to editing sessions, as applicable. We will air the final project on local televised programming.

The MindWorks Net team is now partnering with the Alameda County Health Department, Alta Bates Health Ministries, Get Screened Oakland, One Love Unlimited, and The Oakland Methodist Foundation to launch a series of programs designed to assist faith leaders in developing faith-based health ministries that will meet the needs of the community where they are. The goals of the project are many and include increased community participation and enriching the livelihood of the congregation.

Mayor Ron V. Dellums, The City of Oakland, the Alameda County Health Department, Dedoceo Habi, Abby Ginzberg and myriad others launched a new City-wide initiative to raise awareness around HIV screening and to bring all Oakland residents together get screened.

Critical to the implementation of this highly needed endeavor was the delivery of a series of Public Service Announcements (PSAs) created especially for the launch by the MindWorks Net/Ginzberg team. These PSAs are engaging, innovative and timely and can be seen of the local airways throughout the Bay area.

The launch is the result of a long collaboration between Abby Ginzberg of Ginzberg Video Productions and MindWorks Net. The two entities, working together, were able to leverage their passion for social justice and love for community to organize the various organizations in and around Oakland and make this event happen.
